Ingredients
Method
- Divide the ground beef into four equal pieces and gently form into balls. Press each ball into a patty shape about a half inch thick without overworking the meat.
- Season both sides of each patty with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or flat grill over high heat until very hot.
- Place the patties in the hot pan and cook undisturbed for 3 minutes.
- Flip the patties and cook for another 3 minutes for medium doneness.
- Place a slice of cheese on each patty one minute before they are done and cover with a lid to allow the cheese to melt.
- While the burgers are cooking, heat another pan or reuse the same one if there is space. Spread butter on the cut sides of the buns and toast until golden.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a cheesy patty on the bottom bun, adding your favorite toppings, and covering with the top bun.
Notes
For best results, avoid overmixing the meat to maintain a tender texture. High heat is essential for a flavorful crust. Use a lid when melting cheese to ensure even melting. Choose quality buns and balance toppings to keep your burger manageable and delicious.
