Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

Main
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup pasta water optional

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Watch closely to avoid browning unless desired.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, stirring constantly until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring. Let the mixture simmer gently for 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. If the sauce is too thick, gradually stir in a small amount of reserved pasta water until desired consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately with your favorite pasta or entrée.

Notes

Use freshly grated Parmesan cheese for the best texture and flavor. Avoid high heat during cooking to prevent the sauce from separating. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop and add a splash of cream if needed to restore consistency.
