Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar adjust if you like it sweeter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 and 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional but yes please

Method
 

  1. Preheat your waffle iron until fully hot before starting.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth and frothy.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and gently mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes to improve texture.
  6. Grease the waffle iron if needed.
  7. Scoop an appropriate amount of batter into the waffle iron—enough to cover the surface without overflowing.
  8. Cook each waffle for about 5 minutes, or until golden and crisp on the outside.
  9. Remove carefully and serve hot with your choice of toppings.

Notes

Do not overmix the batter to avoid tough waffles. Use butter instead of oil for better crispiness. Resting the batter helps with flavor and texture. Let the waffle iron fully heat before cooking for best results.
